The classic “tulip” logo of United Airlines, featuring a stylized “U” slanted by 68 degrees, was introduced in 1974. The emblem was discarded decades later when the company merged with Continental Airlines in 2010. It was created in 1973 by Saul Bass, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest graphic designers in history.

The use of blue color in the United Airlines logo stands for approachability, excellence and grace of the corporation, whereas the white color depicts nobility, elegance and purity.

The United Airlines logo features a slightly modified form of the Futura Extra Bold typeface.
