Pokemon (or Pokémon) is a popular media franchise published and owned by Nintendo Co., Ltd. It was created by Japanese video game designer Satoshi Tajiri in 1996. According to an estimate, sales of Pokemon products (including anime, comics, toys, trading cards and books) have surpassed the US$1 billion mark.
The word “Pokémon” is derived from the original Japanese title “Pocket Monsters”. The Pokémon logo consists of a highly playful and energetic wordmark which is specially made to appeal to children. It is written in big yellow letters which are outlined in blue color, as the name of the franchise arches like a rainbow.
